Where are lead screws used?

Smooth, precise, clean and maintenance-free work - these are the elements that make an ordinary device a way to increase efficiency in everyday activities. One of the elements that provide such an effect are lead screws. What are they characterized by? And where are they used? We discuss this topic in our article.

What are lead screws?

Lead screws (also called trapezoidal) are rotating mechanisms with trapezoidal threads. They make it possible to transfer the drive, and more specifically to convert the rotary motion into a progressive one.

We distinguish two main types of lead screws:

  • symmetrical trapezoidal screws that are able to work in both directions,
  • asymmetric trapezoidal screws, which have one direction of working movement and are able to work with heavy loads.

Lead screws they are produced in the precision rolling process. As a result, they are resistant to damage, have a long service life, withstand heavy loads and show good coefficients of friction. They are used to create carbon steel and stainless steel.

Where are lead screws used?

Where can you find high-quality trapezoidal screws? They have found their application wherever reliability and bearing heavy loads are needed. They are used e.g. in the construction of machine tools: lathes, milling machines and laser cutters. They are suitable for the construction of machines for the printing, textile and mining industries. Some of their types can also be used to close the flameproof chambers of transformer stations.

So if you want to take advantage of the advantages and opportunities offered by lead screws, we encourage you to check our offer, where you will find high-quality products.
