What are suspended transport systems?

Today's increase in efficiency in the operation of various types of enterprises is related to, inter alia, with the use of modern, automatic systems that reduce the need to engage employees. One such system worth paying attention to is the suspended transport system. What is it characterized by? And in which industries is it used? We answer these and other questions in our article.

What are the characteristics of suspended transport systems?

Although the individual suspension systems are made up of very similar components and show an almost identical mode of operation, they differ slightly depending on the type of company and type of industry. However, it can be said that most of them consist of carefully matched elements, such as e.g. gears, chains, trolleys and drivers. The key to success is the use of high-quality components based on the best materials. It is the high quality that makes the entire structure resistant to mechanical damage, extreme temperatures, the effects of chemicals and abrasion.

A very important factor when designing suspended transport systems, it is appropriate to plan the course of transport routes. Why is it so important? First of all, because it determines the overall efficiency and the possibility of avoiding possible collisions between products. The proper arrangement of loading and unloading stations, as well as planning work on individual sections is also of great importance. This aspect should be considered especially in the case of automatic suspended transport systems, where the line moves at a constant, relatively fast pace.

During development suspended transport system you should also remember that:

  • elements of the suspended system are usually modular, which makes it possible to change the configuration of transport lines,
  • the structure of the suspended system is often combined with elements of the building structure; However, in order to take advantage of this possibility, it is necessary to check the strength conditions.

Where are overhead transport systems used?

In which industries are advanced suspension transport systems used? A good example is the textile industry, where it is necessary to transport and store clothes on hangers. It is also important to be able to access the selected piece of the product at any time (especially if the building is multi-level).

But it doesn't stop there. Suspended transport systems are used wherever easy storage and transport are important. It goes, among others for the electrical, electromechanical and food industries (mainly hooks, shelves or even roller conveyors are used in it). These systems are also used in the paint, automotive, textile, construction, logistics and many other industries.

However, it should be remembered that - as we have already mentioned - each time it is necessary to make an individual analysis of the company's needs and use the systems that best meet its needs, ensuring efficient functioning.
