Hardened sprocket

In the offer below you will find steel resistant to abrasion hardened chain wheels. Our assortment includes ready-made examples with a hub, but we also make other models based on the technical drawing provided by the customer. The models we offer are single-, double- or three-row and all of them are designed to work with drive-roller chains.

The teeth on the rims of our products have been adequately reinforced, thanks to which they are resistant to the most intensive exploitation. Remember that when replacing a chain on your machine, you must also install a new one hardened wheel. Otherwise, it will result in the loss of functionality of the machine or its total failure.

In the offer of FHU Ozdowski you will find B, A type wheels and special wheels for chains of various sizes. In this wide range you will find wheels both available from stock and made to order.

Hardened wheel - application

Hardened wheel it is an integral part of virtually every chain mechanism. Mechanisms of this type are mainly associated with bicycles and motorcycles, but it is worth adding that they are also used in the construction of certain types of cars, where they are part of the timing gear. Above all, however, chain transmissions are very popular in the precision and heavy machinery industry. Because there are great forces at work in devices of this type, each hardened wheel It must be made of extremely durable materials that enable efficient and trouble-free operation of the devices. Solutions of this type, varied in terms of size and degree of resistance, can be found in our offer.

Hardened wheel - material and processing

In order for the chain wheel to withstand even the greatest forces, it must be made of high-quality material, additionally subjected to specialist treatment. An excellent raw material for production hardened wheels is C43 carbon steel. This type of material is characterized not only by the generally understood strength, but also by specific, detailed advantages, among which it is worth emphasizing the resistance to sudden and jump forces that can be dealt with during starting and stopping the mechanisms.

It should be added that the secret of endurance hardened wheel is not only the very nature of the material from which it is made, but also the fact that the teeth of the high-strength gears are subjected to an induction hardening process. Induction hardening is a technique that allows only the element that needs to be strengthened to be heated. So, unlike classical hardening methods, there is no need to heat and then cool the entire component. In the case of hardened wheels, only the teeth which are most exposed to damage during the operation of the mechanisms are hardened.

Elements of this type reach a hardness of 50HRC, which makes them resistant to additional friction. Thanks to these properties hardened wheel can work in particularly difficult conditions, such as additional dust.
